The University of Gondar Biotechnology Institute has signed an agreement to work with the Ethiopian Sugar Corporation Research Center.
The purpose of the discussion was to support the research and development of industrial enterprises and to increase the production of sugar factories and to cover the supply of sugar locally.
According to the institute’s director, Prof. Nega Berhan, it is possible to increase the production of ethanol by converting the by-products. He also shared that sugar production is being developed with the help of long-standing practices and the country’s sugar production has not changed. This is of the utmost importance because of technological changes in the industry worldwide.
At the end of the discussion, it was suggested that without further delay in the the process of going forward with the innovative duties should be started by providing various inputs from both institutions.
