The Business and Development V/P Office Conducts an ICT Policy Workshop
The University of Gondar is working to modernize the ICT wing and is in the works to have a guiding policy that will strengthen the way ICT is perceived at UoG. The ICT Policy review, which contains a number of detailed sub-policies, was held at the Science Amba Auditorium in the midst of the University president Dr. Asrat Atsedeweyn, Business and Development v/p Dr. Meseret Kassie, Academic v/p Dr. Kassahun Tegene, ICT Directorate staff members, various experts and consulting firms.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Meseret expressed her pleasure that an independent ICT policy has been developed by the university’s staff in such a timely and organized manner.

In terms of ICT infrastructure and being highly ranked, the University has at various times has been one of the best international universities in the country and abroad. UoG’s ICT works, which has a a great responsibility in ensuring a great ICT Infrastructure for all staff and students, should be acknowledged for the milestones reached at the Instituion nontheless.

In his welcoming remarks, the president of UoG Dr. Asrat shared that the University is working hard to compete with the leading universities in the world. He added that the University has invested heavily in ICT infrastructure and is working to modernize the sector to transform UoG into an E-University.

The purpose of the ICT Policy is to guide the design, development, implementation and ensure effective use of the ICT services and resources. The Policy will in turn guide how ICT shall be used to achieve UoG’s goals, ensure optimal distribution of ICT resources and set out rules necessary to ensure the existence of the highest level of consistency in ICT related matters.
