10.    Social Media Policy 

Social media are applications or digital tools that allow users to post, share and/or like contents to the public. Social media sites include Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram Snapchat, and others. 


The purpose of this policy is to guide the appropriate usage of social media by the University of Gondar staffs and students to enhance institutional reputation or visibility.


The scope of this policy covers both the usage of official university social media sites as well as staffs’ and students’ social media activities using the University’s ICT network and infrastructure.

University Official Social Media Sites

  • Only the University’s official social media sites will be allowed to make use of university trademarks and symbols;
  • Only authorized personnel of the University shall be allowed to make postings on the University’s official social media sites;
  • Any information posted and shared across the University’s  social media sites shall comply with the current Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia’s hate speech and disinformation prevention and suppression proclamation;
  • All information shared across the University’s social media sites should not be biased statements on matters such as politics, religion, race, gender, and sexual orientation.
