Gondar hosts the MoE’s 23rd Higher Educational Institutions’ Institutional Transformation Meeting
The Ministry of Education’s Higher Educational Institutions’ Institutional Transformation National Congress’s 23rd regular meeting was hosted by University of Gondar from 11-14/2005 EC.
The National Congress was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education, his Excellency Ato Demeke Mekonnen, the Parliamentary Chairperson, his Excellency Ato Aba Dula Gemeda, the Deputy Minister for Education his honor Dr. Kaba Hurgessa, the Civil Service Deputy Minister W/ro Mesraq Mekonnen, the parliamentary regular committee members as well as the 33 national universities’ Presidents, Vice Presidents and various officials.
His Excellency Ato Demeke Mekonnen, opened the conference by and highlighted the main aims as being concerned with issues of resource administration, human resource administration and issues related to good governance in higher educational institutions in order to ensure transparency and accountability. He also gave appreciation to participants who had travelled from across the country in order to attend the conference. The University of Gondar’s President, Professor Mengesha Admassu in his part welcomed all participants who attend this rich experience sharing stage on behalf of the University community.
The Congress included the Curriculum Council’s 8th regular conference and the Transformational Congress’ 23rd Regular Conference. Each institutions’ (2005 E.C.) 10th month progress report, good experiences that have national significance, the current situation and the future of the Ethiopian Education and Research Network, different reports of supervision, the progress of reconciling module and 2005 E.C. informing plan were among the major topics that were presented and thoroughly discussed.
The University of Gondar played host to the invited guests, showing the warmth and hospitality that Gondar is famous for. Guests were offered tours of the University itself and had a chance to attend an exhibition showcasing the many works of the University community. The event was marked by the vibrant social activities that allowed guests the opportunity to enjoy the historical and cultural scenery of the town of Gondar, including dinner on the grounds of Fasil Castle.
