Pharmaceutics is the study of relationships between drug formulation, delivery, disposition and clinical response. At the University of Gondar, it encompass a Integrated Physical pharmaceutics as a basic, Detailed dispensing studies with a depth manufacturing technical knowledge, Biopharmaceutics and disease-related factors that regulate or perturb those processes, as well as the fundamental mathematical relationships between enzyme/transporter function, blood concentration-time profiles and the spectrum of pharmacological effects. Our instructional and research programs emphasize a Physiologically-Based Approach to understanding and predicting Drug Delivery and Disposition.
The mission of the Department of Pharmaceutics is to advance the pharmaceutical sciences by performing drug-related research and research-based teaching. This happens within a range of topics including: Pharmaceutical technology and formulation, drug delivery, advanced drug analysis and clinical and social pharmacy
The Department of Pharmaceutics emphasizes further development of internationally recognized programs of research and education.
We aim to be the leading dosage form design research center in East Africa by the year 2025.
Our faculties provide training in Manufacturing, Biopharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics to students seeking the BPharm degree and licensure as a Pharmacist in Ethiopia.
The Department is also responsible for the valuable advice for the students seeking a prerequisite qualification for a career in the pharmaceutical industry, academia and with state and federal regulatory agencies.
In addition to instructional activities, the department conducts cutting edge research to create and disseminate new knowledge in the pharmaceutical sciences and provides pharmaceutical service to the public.
Our work is currently supported by 09 staff members. A fully equipped laboratory is currently used for practical sessions for undergraduate students. Staffs and students are currently conducting researches in this laboratory facility.
