The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics strives to deliver quality education, conduct problem based health and health related researches and offer a preventive health service.
We aim to be one of the leading departments in education, health service and research in Ethiopia.
Our Department is dedicated to improving public health by training health professionals, medicine and health science students as well as conducting research that has a significant impact on people’s lives.
The Department currently delivers courses in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Research Methodology, communicable diseases and disease control and prevention for all postgraduate and undergraduate students in the College of Medicine and Health Science (CMHS). The members of the Department also make a significant contribution towards the Team Training Program for medicine and health science students in their capacity as a supervisor and advisor.
We have an outstanding postgraduate program in public health with a specialty track in Epidemiology and Biostatistics since 2008. We currently have 27 students enrolled.
We are a unique department, with 9 members of staff involved in public health-related research, advising, teaching, training and consultancy activities. Every member of the Department is highly involved in teaching, research, consultancy and community services. Through the years our Department has developed a key area of specialty dealing with the causes, distribution, prevention, and control of disease.
Our Department boasts a thriving research environment with a specialty dealing with the causes, distribution, prevention, and control of disease. The epidemiologists and biostatisticians in our department have been working on research programs in specific areas of interests and are acknowledged experts in the application of a number of health and health research methods.
