Several workshops have been conducted in the university to start post graduate programs across faculties. The university is going to launch seven programs in different fields of study as of March 2010. To mention, sociology, social psychology, TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), chemistry, biology, Business Administration and Economics are the fields that are expected to start on March.

slabUoG in collaboration with Jhpiego, Ethiopia establish a skill development laboratory at the College of Medical and Health sciences. The laboratory is inaugurated by the top management of the university and Jhpiego’s country Director Miss. Anna Gypson and other invited guests from various universities.

The information communication technology office of university of Gondar is acting aggressively in interlinking the three main campuses of the university and in network development. Presently, the university has signed a 10 million birr project agreement for network expansion with Pronet and Lasare  International Service and Trading P.L.C in the three main campuses; Maraki, Tewodros and Technology.

 Welcome to University of Gondar Ethiopia

Picture1With a fast-growing economy on the road towards global integration, Ethiopia is in urgent need of more and more young and well-trained talents of high educational standards to be the driving force of our national advancement goals.

The University of Gondar is located 65 kms North from Lake Tana where the Blue Nile starts, Gondar-Ethiopia. It is the largest and most distinguished university in Ethiopia. it was founded in 1954 as Public Health Training College, then the first of its kind in the country. In 2004, including other facilities, it has become a full privileged University level.

Currently we have six facilities with 11,000 regular and 5,000 extension students. Students are distributed in 35 undergraduate and 8 graduate programs.
